NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Iona University Athletics announced the resignation of volleyball head coach
Andy Mueller, who has accepted an opportunity at the University of Memphis. Mueller leaves after three successful seasons at the helm of the Gaels, compiling 43 overall wins and a 30-24 record in MAAC regular season play.
"Gael Nation, thank you for an unforgettable experience," said Mueller. "I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented student-athletes and be part of this amazing community. The memories we've built will stay with me forever. Thank you to the players, staff, and everyone at Iona for your trust and support. I will always carry a piece of Iona with me."
"We appreciate Andy's hard work and dedication to our volleyball program over the past three seasons," said Iona Director of Athletics
Matthew Glovaski. "He has helped our student-athletes develop on and off the court, and we wish him success in his next opportunity."
Mueller led Iona to three consecutive MAAC tournament appearances, highlighted by a third-place finish in his first season - the program's best since 2018. Under his guidance, the Gaels recorded their highest win total in five years and secured multiple postseason victories. He mentored numerous All-MAAC performers, including two-time MAAC Libero of the Year and NCAA digs leader Hope Matschner. His leadership also saw standout seasons from Mackenzie Wiggins,
Ezzie Thompson, and
Mija Jegers, among others.
Assistant coach
Caryn Sibiskie will serve as interim head coach while a national search for Iona's next head volleyball coach commences immediately.
