MILWAUKEE, Wis. – For the third straight year, the Milwaukee Athletic Department held its United We Roar Giving Challenge and the Panthers are proud to announce their most successful campaign to date.
 
The challenge is aligned with the university's 414 for UWM Day of Giving, which is held annually on April 14.
 
This year, the athletic department raised a record $67,229 thanks to contributions from 253 total donors. The Panthers' swimming and diving team earned bragging rights for the year, raising $15,690.54 from 50 donors. Baseball finished second ($13,015.00 from 27 donors) while men's basketball was third ($11,599.14 from 49 donors).
 
"We are very grateful for all of the support we received on 414 Day," Assistant Athletic Director for Development Cody Bohl said. "Annual giving is absolutely essential in our fundraising efforts and this day is crucial for our 300-plus student-athletes who represent Milwaukee Athletics."
 
The department also raised $12,375.35 for the Panther Excellence Fund, which provides support to all our student-athletes, teams, and coaches.
 
"This was our largest giving day to date, both dollars and participation, and we will continue to build on this for the future," Bohl said. "A gift of any size always helps as it shows that people believe in out student-athletes and what we are doing here as a department and university." 
 
This friendly giving challenge was created to help drive support for Panthers' student-athletes and enhance specific areas of each program.
