Florida A&M Athletics announces the addition of Marcus Grant as Deputy Athletics Director for Internal Operations

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M Athletics Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes announced the hiring of Marcus Grant as the Deputy Athletics Director for Internal Operations. 
 
"I am excited to welcome Marcus to the FAMUly," said Sykes. "He has over two decades of experience in college athletics with a focus in governance and compliance. His experiences will help us create more efficient processes to increase the overall health and effectiveness of the athletics department. He has served on several NCAA Committees and understands the importance of institutional alignment with NCAA governance. He will have an immediate impact on our department."
 
"I'm grateful for this opportunity at FAMU under the direction of AD Sykes alongside the other members of her team," said Grant. "I'm looking forward to assisting her with carrying out her vision for the student-athletes and the athletics department."
 
Marcus Grant joins the Rattlers from the CIAA, where he held the title of Associate Commissioner for Governance & Compliance within the CIAA since 2013 after joining the conference office as a media/compliance assistant in 2000.
 
Grant's responsibilities included supporting the compliance offices for the member institutions, assisting with trademark and brand protection, and administration of the National Letter of Intent. Grant was also the conference office liaison with NCAA Academic & Membership Affairs.
 
Grant served on the Division II Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee after serving on the NCAA DII Legislation Committee. He participated in the 2013 Division II Minority Opportunities Athletic Association Governance Academy.
 
Before his time at the CIAA, Grant served as a Recreation Leader with the City of Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks Department and as a Field Marketing Coordinator with Winston-Salem Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidate.
 
The Martinsville, Virginia native is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. He also attended Patrick Henry Community College for two years as a men's basketball team member.
