Andrew Palmer Hired as New Women's Volleyball Coach

RIVER FOREST, ILL. — Concordia University Chicago (CUC) athletics announces the hiring of Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Andrew Palmer. 

Palmer, while currently residing in Georgetown, Kentucky, but is no a stranger to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). An Aurora University graduate, Palmer is coming to CUC with many coaching opportunities under his belt. 

Palmer comes to CUC from Georgetown College, where he has been the head coach for the Men's Volleyball team from 2021-2023. At Georgetown, he coached the Tigers to the NAIA National Tournaments in all of his three years. In 2022, they were named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Champions for the regular season and tournament. In both 2021 and 2022, Palmer was named MSC Coach of the Year. For the past two years, the Tigers have maintained a number seven national ranking. Palmer has coached multiple athletes of caliber, including: Two MSC Players of the Year, MSC Freshman of the Year, MSC Setter of the Year, and 10 AVCA/NVA All-Americans.  This season, Palmer led the team to the MSC Conference Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Championship tournament. Prior to Georgetown, Palmer spent one year at Urbana University coaching the men's volleyball team in their inaugural season. At Urbana, he coached two All-Independent Team members who held nationally ranked stat numbers. 

More familiar with the Chicago area, Palmer also coached at Robert Morris University and, NACC partner, Aurora University. At Robert Morris, they won the CCAC Conference Tournament and had seven All-Conference and two All-Americans. At Aurora, Palmer oversaw the men's program for one year after spending four years with the women's team. With the women's team, he coached the first All-American in program history and multiple NACC All-Conference members. 

In addition to his collegiate coaching, Palmer has spent time coaching volleyball at Kane County Juniors, Aurora Christian High School, and Geneva High School. 

Palmer graduated from Aurora University with a dual-degree in Business Administration and Psychology. 

"We are excited for Coach Palmer to join the Concordia Athletic Program and become a member of the Cougar family," Associate Director of Athletics Janet Wolbert said.  "His excitement for the game, passion for teaching and coaching, along with a commitment to excellence and servant leadership will a great addition to our staff and the Women's Volleyball program.  The team and I look forward to working with him."

Palmer will begin his time at CUC effective immediately.
