Matthew Sloan Announced as Men's Soccer Coach

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Director of Athletics Susan Cassidy-Lyke announced the hiring of Matthew Sloan to lead the Molloy University men's soccer program as head coach.

"I am excited that Matthew will be joining us as the head coach for our men's soccer program," said Cassidy-Lyke. "He is the right choice to lead our men and continue with the success we have experienced the last few seasons. He is a rising leader and his experience as both a player and coach at the Division I level will serve him well as he navigates the competitive East Coast Conference."

Sloan joins the Lions after an accomplished career at both American and Fordham Universities, winning an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship and earning the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship to go with an All-Region selection in 2020.

"I am both humbled and honored for this tremendous opportunity that has been presented to me here at Molloy University," stated Sloan. "I want to thank Susan Cassidy-Lyke and the committee for their belief and trust in me with the Molloy men's soccer legacy.

Having grown up on Long Island, I understand the history of Molloy University and the men's soccer program and the connection that it has to the Long Island soccer community. I am excited to continue to instill the core values of integrating academic and athletic experiences successfully to this program. I am beyond thankful and am looking forward to this journey at Molloy University."

Sloan has spent time coaching with the Long Island Rough Riders, Long Island Soccer Club, Royal Sporting Group, and Plainedge Soccer Club, working with players at all levels from youth to semi-professional over the last decade. Most recently, he was named a Most Valuable Coach by EXACT Sports.

Sloan resides in Hicksville and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from American University and a Master of Science in Humanitarian Studies from Fordham University.
