UIC Announces Leadership Change For Flames’ Softball Program

2/4/2025 7:00:00 PM

CHICAGO (Feb. 4, 2025) – The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday that Lynn Curylo will no longer serve as head coach of the Flames' softball program, effective immediately.

"This decision was not made lightly, and we recognize the timing of this announcement is far from ideal," said Andrea Williams, UIC Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "However, after careful evaluation, we believe this change is necessary for the long-term success of the program and is in the best interests of our student-athletes. Our priority will always be providing our students with a first-class academic and athletic experience in a supportive, inclusive environment — values that will be especially important during this transition."

A national search for a new head coach will begin in the spring. In the interim, assistant coach Jamie Buksa will assume head coaching duties for the UIC softball program and continue to guide the program through this period of change.
