Cole Cody named women's and men's golf coach at Grinnell College

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's and men's golf programs have had different coaches for a number of years, but those positions will be merged into one entering the 2023-24 campaigns.

The College's Athletics Department recently named Cole Cody as the new coach for the programs, as well as a faculty member at the College.

Cody currently serves as assistant coach at NCAA Division II member Henderson State University in Arkansas, where he is involved in player development, recruiting, practice planning and tournament travel. Henderson State is currently ranked fourth nationally in women's golf and ninth on the men's side.

In the fall of 2022, Cody helped coach seven Great American Conference Players of the Week as the team posted seven first-place finishes at meets.

Cody also served as Director of Golf Instruction/Director of Junior Golf at Oak Hills Country Club in DeWitt, Ark., from 2021-22. Prior to that, he was an AmeriCorps volunteer and First Tee STEM Links instructor.

Cody graduated from Hendrix College with a bachelor's degree in economics and business. He was a four-year starter on the golf team, earning Southern Athletic Association Academic All-Conference accolades all four years while also being named to the SAA All-Sportsmanship Team and Academic Honor Roll. Additionally, Cody was a Srixon/Cleveland NCAA Division III All-American Scholar and served three years on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Cody capped his collegiate career by earning the 2022 Coach G Warrior Award, presented by the Hendrix College Athletics Department.

He is currently on track to get his master's degree from Henderson State in Sports Administration.

"I am excited to be a part of the Grinnell family and can't wait to get to work with these great young men and women," said Cody. "I look forward to the challenge of making Grinnell golf a consistent conference and national championship contender!"
