Beth Vansant Named Commissioner of the Collegiate Conference of the South

ATLANTA, GA. – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) announced today that Beth Vansant has been named the conference’s first-ever full-time commissioner. Vansant joins the CCS league office staff after spending the last five years at Belhaven University, where she has served as the school’s Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Administration and Senior Woman Administrator. 
 
She will begin in her new role on June 1st
 
“Beth Vansant is the ideal person to lead the Collegiate Conference of the South – she brings a strong knowledge of the region, combined with direct experience at two of our member institutions,” shared Dr. Bryan Coker, Maryville College President and Chair of the CCS Presidents’ Council. 
 
“Beth is deeply respected by presidents and colleagues across the conference, and we look forward to her leadership, as the CCS becomes one of the premier athletic conferences in NCAA Division III.”

“I want to express my sincere thanks to the members of the search committee and Chair, Dr. Bryan Coker, President of Maryville College for giving me this tremendous opportunity to serve the conference at the highest level. I have had the distinct pleasure to work for two member institutions over the last fifteen years; Agnes Scott College and Belhaven University, which makes this truly special. I also would like to thank Dr. Roger Parrott, President of Belhaven and Scott Little, Vice President of Athletics for Belhaven for their unwavering support of my candidacy. I look forward to the future of the CCS and building it as one of the premier conferences in the south.”
 
Prior to joining the staff at Belhaven, Vansant spent nearly ten years at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She began her career at Agnes Scott as the school’s Head Athletic Trainer in 2008 and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics in 2013. She would move on to be named the Scotties’ Director of Athletics in 2015.
 
In 2012, Beth helped Agnes Scott receive the NCAA Choices Grant and played an integral role in the program entitled, Smart Scotties, Smarter Choices. Under her leadership, Agnes Scott successfully transitioned from the Great South Athletic Conference to the USA South Athletic Conference in 2016. 
 
Additionally, Vansant served as the principal grant writer for the NCAA Strategic Alliance Matching Grant and Agnes Scott was awarded the five-year grant in 2017. She served as Great South Athletic Conference Secretary from 2011-2014 and the Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association Treasurer from 2015-2016. 
 
Prior to her time at Agnes Scott, Vansant spent one year as a clinical athletic trainer for Progressive Health Aviation Services where she served as a rehabilitation specialist for Delta Airlines employees who were injured on the job. From 2004-2007, she served as the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Coordinator at Point University. While working there, she obtained her master’s degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University (2007). She has also been a part-time instructor and tutor at Georgia State teaching undergraduate exercise science classes. 
 
Vansant obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedarville University in 2003. She has been an active member of Women Leaders in College Sports and attended the Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2013 and the Leadership Enhancement Institute in 2016. She has served on the Honors & Awards Committee (2016) and Local Organizing Committee (2018). Vansant is also a member of NADIIIAA and has served on the education committee (2018-2019), and currently serves as a NADIIIAA representative to the DIIICA Officiating Advisory Committee. Adding to her committee resume, Beth currently serves as a member of the NCAA Nominating Committee (2021-present) 
 
She currently resides in Brandon, Mississippi with her husband Andrew and their daughter Avery.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine members and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
