Gregoire Returns To Concordia As Head Coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/10/23)---Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that Jason Gregoire will be the new Cobber women's hockey coach.

Gregoire returns to Concordia and replaces Maureen Greiner, who stepped down as head coach in February. Gregoire was the head coach for the Cobbers from 2015-18.

"I'm excited to get the opportunity to come back to a place that has meant so much to me – both as a player and a coach," Gregoire said. "My time at Concordia coaching the student-athletes was so rewarding, and to get the opportunity to work with them again is something that I am really excited about.

Gregoire left Concordia at the end of the 2018 season to become the Hockey Director for the West Fargo youth hockey program. He stayed in that role until 2022, when he moved to Moorhead to become the Hockey Director for the Moorhead Youth Hockey Association. As Hockey Director, he was in charge of all programming, scheduling, communication, player placement, player development, coach development and committee oversight.

Gregoire took over as head coach for the Cobbers at the start of the 2015 season and helped the Cobbers reach the playoffs in four consecutive seasons. Gregoire won at least nine games in all four seasons and finished with a 47-46-12 overall record.

Gregoire guided Concordia to a Top 5 finish in the conference standings in all four seasons on the bench. He won 37 MIAC games during his tenure and posted a record of 37-25-10. Gregoire also got the Cobbers to the MIAC semifinals in three of the four seasons he was the head coach.

Gregoire played collegiately for the Cobbers after competing at the University of Minnesota Duluth for two seasons. He played goalie for the Bulldogs during the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons.

Gregoire also played for the USA Select final teams in both the 16 and 17 age categories. He went on to play junior hockey in the Junior A level for two seasons and was selected to the North American Hockey League all-star game during his season with the Bismarck Bobcats in 1997-98.

"I am looking forward to meeting the team and setting expectations for the upcoming seasons," Gregoire added. "I am eager to start the new journey with the program and to see what we can accomplish together."

In addition to his full-time head duties at Concordia, Gregoire will continue to help in a revised capacity with the Moorhead Youth Hockey Association.
