UTICA, NY - Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and Utica University alum Kristin St. Hilaire has been announced as the Interim Director of Athletics and Physical Education, University President Todd Pfannestiel announced on Monday, February 3rd.
St. Hilaire takes over for the recently retired Dave Fontaine who worked his last day in the position on January 31st, 2025. She takes over the role effective immediately and will serve as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach this coming season in addition to the new position. Here is what the Office of the President had to say about her appointment to the role of Director of Athletics and Physical Education:
"To the Utica University community:
It is with tremendous pleasure that I inform you of the appointment of Kristin St. Hilaire as Interim Director of Athletics effective February 1. St. Hilaire succeeds Dave Fontaine who retired at the end of last week following a distinguished twelve-year career in that position.
St. Hilaire previously served as our Assistant Athletic Director, and is entering her 18th season as head coach of women's lacrosse team, where she is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 151-102 overall record. The 2024 season in particular was a remarkable season for the program, as she led her team to a 14-4 record and its first Empire 8 Conference Championship final. St. Hilaire will continue to coach the women's lacrosse team through the 2025 season before stepping down from that position. A search will commence soon after to identify a new head coach for the program.
St. Hilaire joined our coaching staff after spending two seasons as assistant coach at Ithaca College (2006-2007). Prior to that the Syracuse, N.Y. native played Division I lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts, where she earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honors all four years and set several school records. She subsequently earned her Master's Degree from Utica University in 2015."
