SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The University of Sioux Falls has named Joe DeMay as just the third head coach of the women's soccer program. With more than two decades of experience in coaching, development, and leadership, DeMay brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record to the Cougars.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach DeMay as the next head women's soccer coach at USF," said Jon Hart, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "Coach DeMay brings an elite soccer background to the position with years of experience as a coach and educator at nearly every level. We had an extremely talented candidate pool, and Joe emerged as the top choice due to his ability to recruit, knowledge of the game, and presence in the Sioux Falls area. The future of USF soccer is very bright!"

DeMay joins USF from Sioux Falls City FC, a local pre-professional United Soccer League W League team, where he serves as Sporting Director. He played a key role in establishing the club's playing philosophy, player development plans, and coaching methodologies. His strategic approach to analytics, scouting, and player well-being helped transform the organization into a national competitor. In each of their first three seasons, Sioux Falls City FC was named Women's Premier Soccer League (WPLF) Franchise of the Year and earned honors for Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year.

In addition, DeMay serves as a coach educator for U.S. Soccer, facilitating A-Youth coaching courses and mentoring coaches across the nation. His approach emphasizes collaborative learning in both virtual and in-person settings, ensuring personalized support tailored to each coach's individual needs and goals.

"I am excited for this opportunity to help elevate the game of soccer in the Sioux Falls community by joining USF to lead the women's soccer program," DeMay said. "I appreciate the trust and vision shown by Dr. Bradfield and Jon Hart in offering me this opportunity. I look forward to leading the Coo program and providing an additional platform for women to succeed on the soccer field in our city."

Before his time with Sioux Falls City FC and U.S. Soccer, DeMay held several roles, including Girls Academy Director at Shattuck-St. Mary's Academy in Faribault, Minnesota, and Director of Development at St. Croix Soccer Club in Stillwater, Minnesota. His collegiate experience includes serving as associate head coach of women's soccer at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where his teams consistently excelled both athletically and academically.

DeMay has also worked as an adjunct instructor for Racing Louisville (NWSL), identifying and supporting top soccer talent nationwide. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in developing players who have reached collegiate, national, and professional levels.

DeMay holds a bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University and resides in Sioux Falls, SD with his wife Sherri Meyers. The couple have two daughters, Kate and Harper. He will begin his role on January 29.
