NORFOLK, Va. – If you're looking for a comprehensive and yet succinct summary of important highlights about Old Dominion University athletics, including how to purchase football and men's and women's basketball season tickets, it may have recently arrived in your mailbox.

The Old Dominion Athletic Foundation recently mailed its annual Gameplan to more than 6,000 current and former season ticket holders and ODAF members.

The 20-page document includes a summary of ODAF's fundraising efforts, seating charts for S.B. Ballard Stadium and Chartway Arena and, during a time of economic uncertainty and soaring inflation, good news about ticket prices.

ODU previously announced that for the third year in a row, football season ticket prices will remain unchanged.

And ODU is doing the same for men's and women's basketball tickets, announced Carolyn Crutchfield, the executive senior associate athletic director for sport administration and external affairs.

"We know that many of our fans, like so many Americans, may be struggling to make ends meet," she said. "And our costs are rising just like everyone else's.

"But we've committed to hold the line on ticket prices to make it easier for our fans, who have been so loyal to us throughout the years, to continue to support our student-athletes.

"Their attendance at all ODU athletic events is critical for the success of our programs."

If you didn't receive a Gameplan, no worries. Look at the top right of this story and click on the blue link that says "Gameplan." A PDF copy of the Gameplan will appear.

2023 Gameplan

With fan convenience in mind, ODAF included men's and women's basketball season ticket forms in the Gameplan for the first time. Generally, ticket renewals for basketball don't begin until the summer.

Men's basketball season tickets are available for $215 per seat, or $200 for seniors, the military, youths and ODU faculty and staff. Club seats are $350 per season.

Women's basketball tickets are $115 apiece or $95 for seniors, the military, youths and ODU faculty and staff.

ODU allowed football season ticket holders to begin renewing their tickets in December, the earliest since the Monarchs began playing football in 2009. And as a result, more than 40 percent of those who own season ticket accounts have renewed their tickets.

The deadline to renew football season tickets and accompanying ODAF donations is May 1.

ODU sold more than 12,500 season tickets last year, up from 7,200 in 2021 and had a record average attendance per game of 20,232.

The Gameplan highlights how much money ODAF has raised, including a record $18,110,658 from 2,420 donors in 2022, where that money goes and the benefits donors receive.

For instance, if you donate $2,500, that would pay for a meal plan for a student-athlete for an entire year.

In return, you would be eligible to receive eight passes for the Big Blue Room at ODU home basketball games and for four passes to the Lexus Field Pass Terrace access at home football games, as long as you have season tickets.

Football season tickets begin at $150 for ODU's six home games (or $25 per game) and many good seats remain. And for the second year in a row, ODU will have beer and wine sales at home games.

ODU faculty and staff receive a $15 discount on football season tickets, and they can be paid for through payroll deduction. For a $135 seat, that's $11.25 every two weeks for six months.

ODU's football schedule is again attractive and challenging. For the second season in a row, ODU will host an ACC team when Wake Forest comes to ODU on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Demon Deacons won 11 games and lost in the ACC championship game to Clemson in 2021 and won eight games, including a victory over Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl, last season.

After opening at Virginia Tech, the Monarchs have three home games in a row in September, which usually offers ideal football weather.

The Monarchs open at home against Louisiana, ODU's first game ever against the Ragin' Cajuns, on Sept. 9 and after hosting Wake Forest, then meet Texas A&M University-Commerce on Sept. 23.

Traditional Sun Belt powerhouse Appalachian State visits ODU on Oct. 12, defending East Division champion Coastal Carolina on Nov. 4 and Georgia State on Nov. 25, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

ODU will continue to offer live entertainment, food and games during the pregame on Kaufman Mall, which drew thousands of fans last season.
