Alexis Neuer Runk Hired as Head Men's & Women's Bowling Coach

WAVERLY, Iowa Alexis Neuer Runk has been named the next head men's and women's bowling coach at Wartburg College, John Cochrane, the Lowell J. Walker Chair of Athletics Directorship Endowed Chair and director of athletics, announced today.

"We are so excited to have attracted Alexis Neuer Runk to lead our men's and women's bowling programs. To have attracted two competing professionals who grew up around the sport and who are as committed to the development of young people as much as Alexis and Brandon is really a unique opportunity and demonstrates the strong commitment that Wartburg has to our bowling program. I anticipate that this renewed level of energy, technical knowledge and determination to be successful will provide the foundation for becoming a nationally competitive program under Alexis' leadership."

Neuer Runk is a USBC certified coach and is a Pro Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) competitor. She has coaching experience at the high school level as well as private coaching lessons.

Neuer Runk was a four-year member of the Delaware State University bowling team, where she was a Division I First-team All-American in 2020. At the collegiate level, Alexis progressed her physical game as well as grew her understanding of the technical side of bowling. She graduated from Delaware St. with a bachelor's degree in physics and electrical engineering in 2020.

"I am so grateful to be selected as Wartburg's head bowling coach. Excited to be joining a historically successful athletic program who is committed to the growth and success of its bowling program. Being a collegiate coach has been a dream of mine since I departed college bowling myself. Being able to provide a healthy, competitive and successful environment for a group of athletes is something I hold close to my heart. I am optimistic for the legacy of excellence we can create together at Wartburg College, and I am thrilled for the journey ahead," said Neuer Runk on being hired.

Neuer Runk has been on the PWBA Tour for the past two years and has a high finish of sixth place at the Great Nashville Open.

Her husband Brandon Runk, who is also a pro bowler for the Pro Bowling Association (PBA), will join Alexis as an assistant coach on the staff.

She will begin her duties in the coming weeks.
