Job Description:

This full-time position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Athletic Director of External Relations and the general athletic administration with the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department's Marketing & Fan Experience Team. The Assistant Director of Marketing & Fan Experience will be responsible for developing and implementing robust promotional and marketing plans, connecting the UAlbany student body with the athletics programs, and providing marketing & fan experience-based services for assigned teams to promote the University's Athletics Department, its student-athletes and coaches.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, implement, and execute a marketing plan and ticket sales plan for assigned sports with the goal of outlining promotions and ticket sales strategies that will increase revenues, raise attendance, and enhance the in-game promotions to maximize the fan experience.
  • Assume overall responsibility for all in-game marketing and promotions associated with assigned home athletic events, including but not limited to: the production of show timelines and public address scripts, organization of in-venue music, and timeout coordination with band, cheer, dance, and mascot, as well as activation of sponsorships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase student involvement which includes: cultivating relationships with student leaders on campus, building and expanding student involvement and excitement around athletic events as well as increasing and improving the overall student experience. This position will oversee the DANEger Zone Rewards program.
  • Lead in the creation, optimization, and tracking of digital advertising campaigns across channels including search, display, social, OTT, and audio streaming.
  • Collaborate with communications and creative content teams in amplifying digital content to build fandom and leverage social platforms as a marketing tool to help sell tickets, generate leads and support other revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Responsible for the oversight, development, and expansion of the Damien Mascot Program including the recruitment and retention of mascot team members, planning and execution of in-game fan entertainment, and expansion of external visibility in the Capital Region.
  • Assist with the recruitment, management, and supervision of all students involved in the department's Marketing & Fan Experience Internship program on a day-to-day basis, including game day and office duties.
  • Attend the mandatory sexual violence prevention program as required by federal, state, SUNY, and University policies and procedures prior to or at the beginning of the academic year.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • One to two years of experience in college athletic marketing or a related field with proven successful experience in achieving marketing plan goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop), Click Effects Pro Audio 6.5, Daktronics V8000, and a basic knowledge of various social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok).
  • General knowledge of NCAA, CAA, America East & MAAC rules and regulations.
  • Must possess a good understanding of collegiate athletics and be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Capacity to work with people in a multi-ethnic environment and develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week including nights, weekends, and holidays.
