Ursinus Mourns the Loss of Damiano Rotolo

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College is saddened to learn of the death of Damiano Rotolo, a first-year student on the Ursinus men's wrestling team who intended on majoring in the social sciences. President Robyn Hannigan shared the news with the Ursinus community Sunday afternoon, March 26.

Dam, who was from Aberdeen, N.J., and a graduate of Matawan Regional High School, was described by his coaches, teammates, and friends as "one of a kind," Dam is remembered for his loving personality and unique sense of humor. Always among the most talkative in class, he was quick with a response and willing to engage in respectful discussions with his professors and classmates.

Rotolo wrestled in two matches at the Will Abele Invitational for the Bears during the 2022-23 season at the 141 lb. weight class. According to Coach Joe Jamison, "Dam was a great teammate and friend to everyone he knew. He had a unique ability of getting people to laugh when they needed it the most, and how much he cared for everyone was incredibly evident. People were drawn to him. Dam came to Ursinus as an incredible student-athlete and had a bright future ahead of him. We're going to miss him terribly."

Wellness Center counselors are available for the remainder of the week as Ursinus College continues to offer resources and support for all members of the campus community. Students are also encouraged to email wellness@ursinus.edu to request an appointment and refer to the Sunday email communication and the Wellness Center website for more information.
