MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— Barry University has hired Noah Moran as its first swimming coach, vice president Dr. Scott Smith announced today. Moran brings over 20 years of NCAA experience at all three levels, as well as international experience to the Bucs.

"I'm excited to welcome Coach Moran to Barry University and launch our men's and women's swimming program," Smith said. "His vision and enthusiasm for what it takes to start the program, his understanding of the student athlete experience, and his commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom are a perfect fit for Barry University and our athletic program."

Moran spent the last year as the assistant coach at NCAA Division I Cleveland State, helping lead the men to a 4-3 dual meet record and third place in the Horizon League and the women to a 3-5 mark and fifth place in the league.

"I am so thrilled to start coaching at Barry University," Moran said. "The opportunity to start a program from the beginning, set and sustain the culture, and grow the program to match the competitive nature of all the Barry U athletic teams is something I have talked about for a long time. With a rising academic reputation, a tradition of athletic success, a great location, a phenomenal conference, and a supportive administration, I cannot wait to begin the Barry University Swimming Team! Prior to CSU, Moran spent three seasons at D-III Wittenberg, the first as the interim head coach before being elevated into the permanent position from 2019-21.

Moran had spent three seasons as the head coach at Tiffin, helping lead five swimmers to the NCAA Division II Championships. In that time, he coached 34 student-athletes to new school records.

Prior to Tiffin, Noah spent a season as an assistant coach at Colgate University and then went on to spend a year with the Turkish Swimming Federation, working as the head coach at the Ankara High-Performance Center.

Moran began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Eastern Michigan for eight seasons before moving into an assistant role for seven seasons.

Moran swam at Eastern Michigan University for five years, helping the Eagles to four Mid-American Conference Championships and a 32-13 overall record, and a 21-3 mark in league meets.

Moran received his bachelor of science from Eastern Michigan University in political science and communications. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 2003.
