MCCORMICK NAMED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH

McMurry University Vice-President for Student Affairs and Intercollegiate Athletics Sam Ferguson has announced hiring Lee McCormick to the War Hawks coaching roster.

McCormick is taking over head strength and conditioning coach duties. A graduate and Hall of Fame member at NCAA Division I Murray State University of Kentucky, he has a plethora of impressive credentials, including running a speed camp at the University of Texas at Austin for former head football coach Mack Brown and assistant Jeff Madden; developing a strength program for four-time United States Olympian Troy Dumais who claimed a bronze medal in diving; implementing a summer strength and conditioning program for the Women's National Basketball Association San Antonio Silver Stars; and being a National Basketball Association Combine testing coach for the annual pre-draft event in Chicago.

McCormick had previously been at Huston-Tillotson University as their head strength and conditioning coach since 2013. He'd also worked at St. Michael's Catholic Academy and Austin Junior Volleyball in similar roles since 2019.

"We are beyond excited to have an individual like Lee with a background of integrity and passion for developing scholar-athletes to their fullest potential towards success on the playing fields and arenas," Ferguson said. "He will play an integral role in how current and future War Hawks contribute to their programs not only in competition but life due to his abilities in life coaching situations."
