Cole Bosley will begin recruiting in December to get his first squads ready for the 2023-24 academic year.
Rockhurst University Director of Athletics Kristy Bayer announced today (Nov. 28) that Cole Bosley has been hired as the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field head coach. Bosley will begin recruiting in December to get his first squads ready for the 2023-24 academic year.

Bosley has served as the assistant men's and women's cross country at Rockhurst since August of 2021. He has assisted head coach Kathy Strecker in recruiting, administrative duties and weekly training plans for the Hawks. During his first year at Rockhurst, the men's cross country team posted eight new top 10 all-time marks.

"During his time as an assistant coach at Rockhurst, Cole has proven to be an excellent motivator and leader," Bayer said. "He puts the student-athlete first, and has had a positive influence in our team culture. He is exactly the type of person we are looking for to lead our inaugural track and field program.

"Cole has energy and passion for recruiting. As an assistant coach, he is actively engaged in the recruiting process. He is dedicated to building a strong roster of, not only athletically gifted track and field student-athletes, but those who are also committed to their academic success."

Before coming to Rockhurst, Bosley was a graduate assistant cross country and track coach at Long Beach State University in California for 18 months along with being a kinesiology teaching assistant. He also spent four years as an assistant track coach for the 365 Track Club.

"We are excited about the future of the track and field program under Cole Bosley. He has excelled as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and we are looking forward to him taking the reigns as our inaugural head coach," Bayer added.

An outstanding distance runner Emporia State University, Bosley was part of the two-time Kansas Relays winning 4x800 teams in 2017 and 2018. He was also a part of the Drake Relays winning 4x800 team in 2018. Bosley was a multiple All-Conference runner in the MIAA and holds a personal best of 3:55 in the 1,500 meters that he ran in 2017 at the conference championships. His track and field season at Long Beach State got cut short due to Covid, but in his last race he won the Beach Opener Track Meet 800 meters in a personal best of 1:53.

Bosley received his undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in coaching from Emporia State in 2019 and master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport and exercise psychology from Long Beach State in 2021.

"I feel extremely blessed for this opportunity and that this University and athletic department has put faith in me to lead this new program," Bosley said. "I'm excited for this opportunity to help grow Rockhurst Athletics and lead a great group of student-athletes at an amazing school in an amazing city."
