STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Volleyball head coach
Mary Schindler has resigned after 20 seasons at the helm of the program, Tarleton Athletics announced on Thursday.
"I want to thank
Mary Schindler for her long career here at Tarleton State," Vice President and Director of Athletics Steve Uryasz said. "We will begin our search for the next head coach immediately."
Schindler ends her 20-year run as the Texan Volleyball head coach with a 380-250 overall record. In Tarleton's five seasons at the NCAA Division I level, the Texans have gone 63-79, including a 7-22 overall mark this season, 2-14 in Western Athletic Conference play.
Schindler was the Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year four times during Tarleton's D2 days (2018, 2017, 2015, 2008). In 2018, she guided the Texans to the program's first regional championship and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight run. In 2014, Schindler's Texans won their first LSC Tournament Championship and made their first NCAA postseason.
Before Schindler's head coaching tenure from 2005-24, she was a graduate assistant for the program from 2003-04 after a four-year playing career from 1999-2002.
