Interesting “Donor Contribution” analysis by FBS Conference, from Knight-Newhouse College Athletics Database, via intern Grant Higgins. Jointly, donors to programs of the FBS contributed almost $2.4 billion in 2023. This is up from $737 million in 2005. Donors (22% overall) are the second largest source of revenue for FBS programs behind NCAA and conference distributions/media rights/post-season football (28% overall).

And, importantly, donor contributions are excluded from the revenue that the House settlement’s 22% is applied to for rev share cap calculations. A huge amount of revenue that athletes are excluded from sharing in.

Also keep in mind that these figures do not include donor money that went to Collectives during this period.

Jason, Great information. This data further illustrates the stratification between the P4 Conferences and the G5.

Makes total sense that the non-P4 conferences are responsible for a majority (60%) of the reduced NCAA disbursements over the next 10 years under the terms of the Fake Settlement™️ 🙄.

I'd love to see how many donors represent those numbers. As we know, the data now shows that a large sum of donations are coming from a very small percentage of donors.
