Runksmeier Named Colby's First Deputy Athletics Director

Waterville, Maine - Colby Athletics announced Casie Runksmeier as the College's first Deputy Athletics Director.

"Casie's well-earned promotion to this critical leadership role is a testament to her professional knowledge, deep passion to athletics and our students, and a demonstrated ability to perform at an executive level," said Mike Wisecup, Vice President and Harold Alfond Director of Athletics.  "Since her arrival on Mayflower Hill, she has earned my complete trust and confidence as a key advisor and partner in our pursuit of excellence across the department."

Runksmeier joined the Colby Athletics staff in January 2022 as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Associate Director of Athletics.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mike and the Athletics staff over the last year," reflected Runksmeier.  "All of us at the College are highly motivated to support the student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to the highest level.  Each member of our team is fueled by an incredible passion for sport and academic achievement, and work so hard to maximize student-athlete opportunity.  The first twelve months as part of this team has been game-changing, and I am very excited to play a part in the bright future of Colby Athletics."

Prior to arriving on Mayflower Hill, Runksmeier served as the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations and Student Success at Mitchell College.  She also served as the Compliance Coordinator, the SWA, and spent time guiding the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).  Runksmeier has also spent time in various capacities at Daniel Webster College, New England College, and the University of Southern Maine.  She has held roles within the NCAA such as Site Representative for the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships (hosted by Williams College in 2016), and as a facilitator at the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in both Chicago and Dallas.

"The Colby Mules are on the move, reaching new heights and continuing to raise the bar across all programs," continued Wisecup.  "With heightened accomplishments comes heightened expectations, and our students, coaches and staff are up for the challenge.  Our administrative staff exists to support our coaches in their work to maximize the potential and experience of every student-athlete, and the commitment by the College to elevate Casie in this role is a clear recognition of her ability and potential to make it happen."
