Trammell Named Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Mental Health and Wellness

DETROIT --  Wayne State University Director of Athletics Erika Wallace has announced the appointment of Nikki Trammell as an Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Mental Health and Wellness.

A 2015 graduate of Davenport University with a bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Trammell earned her master's degree in Social Work from Michgian State University in 2021.

She has spent the past three-plus years as a School Social Worker with the Kentwood Public Schools providing counseling, education and life-skills training.

In addition, Trammell spent two-plus years as the Program Coordinator and Group Facilitator at The Chosen Ones in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she facilitated group mental health sessions for high school athletes.  Trammell was a member of the Planning Committee for The Chosen Mental Health Conference for high school athletes.

While completing her master's degree, she spent two years with the Jenison Public Schools.  During her tenure with JPS, Trammell observed and independently engaged in therapeutic sessions with students.

She also served on the H.O.P.E. Gardens Board of Directors for two years.

During her undergraduate career at DU, Trammell competed on both the Panthers women's basketball team and rugby squad.

She and her daughter reside in metro Detroit.
