Weatherington Relieved of Duties as Charlotte Volleyball Head Coach

Weatherington spent 10 seasons leading Charlotte Volleyball.

CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Director of Athletics Mike Hill has announced that Charlotte Volleyball coach Karen Weatherington has been relieved of her duties, effective immediately.

Weatherington finishes her 10-year stint at Charlotte with a 118-160 (.424) record. She was the longest-tenured coach in program history and guided the 49ers through their conference transition from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference.

Weatherington helped mold several individual standouts highlighted by Sydney Rowan (2017-21) who became the eighth Niner in program history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

This season, Charlotte holds a 5-22 record (2-12 AAC).

With two games remaining on the 2024 schedule - at East Carolina (Nov. 13) and senior day vs. Temple (Nov. 17) - assistant coach Sherisa Livingston will serve as interim head coach. Livingston has four years of head coaching experience at Radford.

A national search for Weatherington's replacement will commence immediately.
