MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran College announced on Friday that Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Michael Dunn is stepping down from the positions that he has held for the past nine years.
"Michael diligently served his student-athletes on our campus, and he moved the needle on several aspects of our program, and I want to thank him for his dedication to that effort. I wish Michael all the best in his future endeavors," said Co-Athletic Director Pat Garvin.
In his time at Bethany, Dunn coached 19 women and four men to Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference honors in cross country while also seeing one athlete named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region.
On the track and field side, he saw 45 individual UMAC women's champions in both indoor and outdoor while seeing 32 men earn the same distinction. He also saw oversaw four USTFCCCA All-Region honors for both the men and women, while helping produce the program's first NCAA All-American in triple jumper Jake Marzinske.
Dunn said, "I absolutely love the young men and women who have been part of this program and who are currently part of this program. They are all incredibly special to me and have been amazing role models for my three daughters."
Jakin Anderson, current Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach, will serve as interim head coach. A search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
