Holy Cross announces renovations to Kuzniewski Field

WORCESTER, Mass. – Renovations are underway to replace the turf at Kuzniewski Field, with an anticipated completion in early August.

"We are eager to invest in and upgrade our lacrosse facilities in order to provide an elevated student-athlete experience," said Amy Coleman, senior associate director of athletics for business, facilities and operations. "We are thankful to the College for its support of this project, and look forward to seeing the progress made in the coming months. Beyond an improved surface for training and competition, we know the upgraded facility will add to the continued pride felt by our Holy Cross community."

This nearly $1 million investment by the College will upgrade and replace the existing infill synthetic turf field with an engineered performance system consisting of a new dual fiber playing surface with sand and resilient infill material constructed over a resilient premolded drainage pad, an impermeable liner. The project will also include drainage improvements to the complex.

The field has been designed to provide improved and more uniform player surface and ball surface performance. The combination of a firmer fiber and infill matrix over a resilient pad allows biomechanical surface impacts to be firm, while body impacts to the ground are absorbed by the premolded pad. The net result is a faster and more forgiving playing surface.

Kuzniewski Field serves as the home of the Holy Cross men's and women's lacrosse teams, in addition to being the primary practice facility for the football team.

"The installation of new turf at Kuzniewski Field will be a huge asset for our program," said head women's lacrosse coach Amanda Belichick. "This investment will directly benefit our student-athletes and improve their experience in both games and practices. We look forward to playing on the new surface in the near future."
