Mike Bohn resigns: 2 more candidates for USC athletic director job

Former USC athletic director Mike Bohn unexpectedly resigned last Friday after a "thorough review of the athletics department."

The review uncovered "concerns" about Bohn, per the Los Angeles Times, which prompted his resignation. Those concerns included Bohn "making inappropriate comments about the physical appearance of female colleagues, including remarks about their dress, hair and weight, that staff members said made them feel uncomfortable."

Last Friday, we released a list of five candidates to replace Bohn. On Monday, ESPN reporter Pete Thamel went on The Paul Finebaum Show and mentioned two more potential candidates for the USC AD opening. 

JEN COHEN

Cohen has been the athletic director at the University of Washington since 2016. She's worked in the Washington athletic office since 1998 and is from Tacoma but does have Southern California roots as a graduate of San Diego State in 1991. In Cohen's time at UW, the Huskies athletic programs have had record graduation rates, she's negotiated a $119 million apparel partnership with adidas and helped fundraise $50 million to improve the school's football stadium.

MACK RHOADES

Rhoades has been Baylor's AD since 2016. In June of 2021, Rhoades was selected as the Sports Business Journal’s Athletics Director of the Year. That was the same year the Baylor men's basketball team won the NCAA Tournament. In 2019, Rhoades announced plans to build a $105 million basketball field house at the school following a successful fundraising effort. He's also nailed his two head football coaching hires by bringing in Matt Rhule in 2016 and Dave Aranda in 2020. Rhoades has worked as an AD in the SEC at Missouri as well as at Houston and the University of Akron.
