The School of Nursing is seeking a Teaching Support Assistant to assist faculty in the nursing program.
This position will be 9 months starting August 21, 2025 and ending May 19 2026. This appointment is subject
to the availability of funds.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Assist nursing faculty in various lab, simulations and clinical courses:
 Class/lab and clinical attendance
 Proctoring exams/quizzes
 Reviewing exam/quizzes with students if requested by faculty
 Tutoring students in theory as well as lab
 Facilitating study groups/review sessions
 Assisting with other instructional support as needed
 A standardized actor for simulations
 Clean and set up lab at the end of practice time
 Other assigned duties as designated
 Minimum 3.0 graduate GPA
 Must have reliable transportation

Skills & Qualifications:

 Meet all requirements for teaching support assistant as defined by the School of Graduate Studies
   (http://www.wiu.edu/graduate_studies/prospective_students/gainfo.php)
 Applicants should be a physician, nurse, or other health care professional (not
   required).
 Excellent English communication skills, written and oral.
 Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
 Proofreading and editing skills with knowledge and experience using APA.
 Proficient with medical terminology.
 Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
 Excellent time management and organizational skills.
 Experience with the American Health Care System preferred.

School of Education - America Reads Program

The School of Education has openings for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 semesters with the America
Reads Program. Candidates for this position must be eligible to file a Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 academic year and be eligible for Federal Work
Study.

Before applying, please note: *Only U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens with an alien
registration number can file for FAFSA. **International students are not eligible to hold these
positions as international students do not meet the FAFSA or Federal Work Study
eligibility requirements. **

Position duties:
● Assist in local grade school tutoring programs
● Oversee volunteers
● Recruit volunteers for the program
● Write reports for the program
● Tutor students when necessary
● Assist professors in the School of Education (classroom prep, research, etc.) as
needed

Requirements:
∙ Fully accepted into a graduate program
∙ Be available each afternoon 2:00-5:00 p.m.
∙ Minimum 3.0 graduate GPA
∙ Be a self-starter
∙ Have strong communication and organization skills
∙ Familiar with Excel, Word, etc.
∙ Strong oral English proficiency
∙ Have strong professional dispositions and the ability to work as a team member
within a group.
● Must have reliable transportation
