ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Brian Kegler has been named Executive Associate Athletic Director for Development at the University of Michigan, as announced today (Tuesday, May 22) by Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics.

Kegler will lead the athletic department's Development unit, encompassing leadership gifts, major gift officers, annual giving, premium seating, donor relations and stewardship, and development operations.

Kegler, who is in his 11th year at U-M, most recently served as Associate Athletic Director before earning this promotion following the departure of Katie Fraumann.

"I am thrilled Brian has agreed to step into this critically important role of leading our development team," said Manuel. "Brian has a tremendous feel for our athletic department and our shared purpose; he is highly-regarded throughout the university fundraising community and maintains extremely positive relationships among our donors. I look forward to working with him closely as we address our athletic department's current and future needs."

Kegler has steadily climbed the ranks at U-M, initially joining Athletics in 2012 as the Director of Athletic Development in charge of the Midwest Region. He became Senior Director of Development in 2015 before becoming Assistant and then Associate AD.

"I am extremely proud and honored to be given the opportunity to lead this incredible team and thankful to Warde and the University of Michigan for putting their trust and faith in me to serve in this role. I am eager to get started and work closely with our many generous donors to Michigan Athletics," said Kegler.

Kegler came to U-M following five years as the Associate Athletic Director and Director of Athletic Development at The University of Tulsa.

Prior to that, Kegler served as Associate Athletic Director at Ferris State University from 2002-07, following a two-year stint at the University of Notre Dame.

A former Division I student-athlete at the University of Georgia and the University of Northern Iowa, Kegler earned a degree in organizational communication from the University of Northern Iowa. Kegler earned a master's degree in sports management from Iowa State.

He and his wife Kaci, who works at the Ross School of Business, have three children: Nolan, 13, Noelle, 11, and Theo, 5.
