UNC Asheville Athletics Unveils New Strategic Plan: Dream Bigger, Achieve More

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Janet R. Cone, Director of Athletics at the University of North Carolina Asheville, announced on Thursday the unveiling of a new comprehensive five-year strategic plan for Bulldog Athletics titled Dream Bigger. Achieve More. The plan is a result of months of study and input from numerous campus and community partners, working in collaboration with The Huron Consulting Group.
"Dream Bigger. Achieve More. is the framework and roadmap for the next five years from which our athletic program can thrive and focus on key areas that will grow and develop our most valuable resource—our student-athletes, coaches and staff," Cone said. "The time is now to build a successful future for UNC Asheville Athletics."
Beginning in the fall of 2022, Huron conducted an independent assessment of Bulldog Athletics to identify any gaps between the current state of the department and the envisioned future success along with opportunities to address those gaps. The final report was the foundational work for our new strategic plan that prioritizes the following areas:
The Dream Bigger. Achieve More. plan includes internal metrics and goals for achievement over each of these defined areas along with accountability measures for Bulldog Athletics coaches and staff. An external version of Dream Bigger. Achieve More. can be found at www.uncabulldogs.com.

As UNC Asheville Athletics sets a course for success over the next five years, it rides a wave of momentum generated by an extremely successful year in 2022-23 that included Men's Basketball's regular season and tournament championships, which advanced them to the NCAA Tournament along with Women's Tennis capturing the regular season Big South Championship.
"We are just scratching the surface of what we can accomplish with Bulldog Athletics," Interim Chancellor Kimberly van Noort said. "The passion from our donors and student-athletes—along with the camaraderie of our coaches, staff and university personnel—is unmatched. We not only want to win but also want to continue to represent the best of Asheville and Western North Carolina."
