Those were the thoughts of newly appointed Athletics Director, Scott Carr in December 2021 on his vision for the future of FIU Athletics. With Relentless Pursuit: A Strategic Plan for FIU Athletics // 2023-28, Carr, along with contributing FIU Athletics and University staff members, coaches, student-athletes, donors, alumni, and fans, have created a roadmap for that vision.
The development of Relentless Pursuit: A Strategic Plan for FIU Athletics // 2023-28 thoughtfully examined our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The process purposely describes what we want FIU Athletics to be and how we are going to get there. The 'what' is described in our Core Values, Vision, and Mission. The 'how' is detailed in the six Strategic Themes and accompanying Goals.
The 2022-23 FIU Athletics season was filled with success in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. Highlights were regular-season and conference tournament titles, as well as a run to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the men's soccer team, a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance for the tennis team, and an NCAA Championship berth for the beach volleyball team. The swimming and diving team finished the year with a department-best 3.71 combined GPA to lead all programs to an overall FIU Athletics grade point average of 3.35.
