Women’s & Men’s Tennis: Kevin Jackson Stepping Down as Head Women’s and Men’s Tennis Coach, Assistant Coach Gregg Fanus Set to Take Over

| By:
LANGHORNE, Pa. – Cairn University Head Women's & Men's Tennis Coach Kevin Jackson has announced that he is stepping down at the helm of the Women's and Men's Tennis programs. Assistant Coach Gregg Fanus will be assuming the role as Head Coach of both programs, effective immediately.

"Coaching Cairn University Highlander tennis has been by far the most rewarding experience in my 35+ year professional tennis career." Remarked Jackson. "I'm very grateful to former AD, Jay Butler, for his confidence in me, to current AD, David Babb, for his encouragement and to President Williams for giving me this incredible opportunity to not only coach but more importantly to help disciple young men and women of God. I especially need to acknowledge my Assistant Coach Gregg Fanus for laying such a great foundation before I arrived which contributed greatly to our success. Since Gregg has decided to take on the head coaching roll, it's exciting to know the program and players are in good hands. The student athletes in our tennis community are exceptional, and opposing coaches often remark about the Christ like example of our players. It has been a privilege to serve as their coach and each player has left an indelible mark on my heart, my prayer is that I have done the same for each of them."

In his five seasons at the post, Coach Jackson has led the women's tennis program on its most successful run in program history, commanding the Highlanders to four Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships and four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, as well as being named the CSAC Coach of the Year in four consecutive seasons, a feat no Cairn coach has ever accomplished. Under Jackson's guidance, the Highlanders have only lost one CSAC match in four full conference slates, boasting a 21-1 record in the regular season against CSAC teams, and the Highlanders have not dropped a point against a conference opponent in the past two years. Jackson has amassed a career record of 48-21 with the women's tennis program for a 70% winning percentage.

Under Coach Jackson, Paige Kemper has been a three-time CSAC Player of the Year, as well as CSAC Rookie of the Year in 2021, and he guided Alyssa Peters to CSAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2019. Under Jackson, a total of 16 players have earned all-conference recognition in both singles and doubles play.

Coach Jackson was also instrumental in installing the men's tennis program at Cairn, which debuted in 2019, where he has guided them to an 18-16 record in just four seasons since its inception.

"Coach Jackson has been a valued member of our coaching staff for many years and has our tennis program positioned for continued success in the future." Remarked Director of Athletics David Babb. "His leadership has been an asset to the program!  Cairn University thanks him for his contributions and wishes him all the best in his new endeavor."
