Ebony Macias Named Assistant Athletics Director for Communications

CARSON -- Nearing the completion of her fifth year overall in the profession, Ebony Macias has been named the Cal State Dominguez Hills Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, it was announced by CSUDH Associate Vice President / Athletics Director Eric McCurdy.

"We are excited about Ebony being a new member of the Toro family," begins McCurdy.  "The search committee was impressed with Ebony's attitude and skill set as it relates to sports information and communications. I look forward to partnering with her to serve our student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, alumni, and external partners to increase awareness of the great things happening within DH athletics."

Macias comes to the Carson campus from fellow CCAA school Cal Poly Pomona, where she served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for the 2022-23 season, leading the communications efforts for men's and women's soccer, men's basketball and men's and women's track and field, all while managing the athletics website, creating the broadcast schedule and video production overlays using Blueframe, training and supervising student workers for game day operations, and creating game day materials for her sports.

Prior, she had served as the Athletics Marketing and Communications Specialist at Cal State San Bernardino since 2021, where she maintained the athletics web site, facilitated the sports information and media relations efforts of all 10 intercollegiate teams that included three postseason tournaments -- the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament, the 2021 NCAA Division II Volleyball West Regional Tournament and the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Regional Tournament, creating webpages for each.

Macias also managed the main social media accounts for CSUSB, produced graphics to promote game days and upcoming events, supervised student-workers in various game day roles, and launched the Coyotes' website redesign effort.

Before San Bernardino, Macias worked in the sports information office at College of The Desert from 2018 to 2020, assisting with various tasks such as game day operations, website maintenance, writing, and photography, among others.

Macias earned her Bachelor's degree in English Literature in 2018 from Cal State San Bernardino, and most recently obtained her Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2019.
