Titans Announce Change In Women’s Lacrosse Program

DETROIT (5/5/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. has announced that head women's lacrosse coach Dwayne Hicks will no longer lead the program.

"I would like to thank Coach Hicks for his services to the University, especially during the pandemic, and for helping guide us through that difficult period," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "At this time, I feel that we need to move in a different direction with the program."

Hicks took over as interim head coach in 2020 before being named to the full-time position after the season. In his three official years as head coach, the Titans were 7-32, while dealing with the pandemic and transitioning from the Southern Conference to the Mid-American Conference.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
