MORROW, Ga. – Interim Director of Athletics Mike Mead announced on Monday that Katrina Briscoe has been named the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.  Katrina brings 10+ years of experience to Clayton State University in the compliance and student-athlete success areas. 
 
"I am thrilled to be joining the Laker family, and I want to thank AD Mead for this opportunity," said Briscoe. "I am looking forward to working with such a talented group of student-athletes, coaches, and staff as we continue to strive towards academic excellence in the classroom and community. I am eager to help support our student-athletes to become the absolute best versions of themselves and take the department to the next level."
 
Briscoe was most recently an Academic Advisor at Clark Atlanta University.  Since July of 2017, Katrina was responsible for academic advisement providing them strategies to improve their degrees and help them graduate.  She also assisted with new-student orientations, conducted outreach presentations, and conducted advisement workshops for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and all student-athletes. 
 
Before her time at Clark Atlanta, Briscoe was the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Support Services at Alcorn State University in Mississippi from 2015-17. While at Alcorn State, Briscoe managed and conducted NCAA Investigations into discrimination, academic misconduct, academic fraud, and substance abuse.   Katrina also handled eligibility, academic advisory, and provided training about NCAA bylaws to the student-athletes.  While at Alcorn, Briscoe was a member of the Diversity & Inclusion and NCAA Accelerated Academic Success committees.

Prior to her role at Alcorn State, Briscoe was the Compliance Coordinator at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. From 2013-15.  There, Katrina was responsible for being a liaison between the Department of Athletics, Office of Admissions, and the University Housing and Dining departments, monitored the eligibility process for incoming student-athletes and transfer students, and supported the Senior Associate AD for Compliance with the submission of waivers and recruiting violations.  She also served on the Admissions Committee for the University.  Briscoe started her compliance career as a Compliance Coordinator for Savannah State University from 2012-13.  There, Katrina monitored eligibility for prospective student-athletes, implemented monthly rules education sessions for coaches, athletic administrators as well as student-athletes, and coordinated weekly study hall for at-risk student-athletes.

"Katrina impressed us all during the hiring process, she has a clear passion for Athletics and is someone who can help continue growing our fantastic culture as well as being someone who will advocate relentlessly for our student-athletes."
 
Briscoe is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in 2008.  Katrina continued her education and received a Master of Science in May of 2010 from High Point University, in High Point, N.C.
