PITTSBURGH, Pa. – February 24, 2023 – Head Swimming and Diving Coach Cody Cook has announced his plans to step away from the program.
"We would like to thank Coach Cook for all of his efforts this past season, especially when he came in so close to its start," said Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Leonard Trevino.
In the 2022-23 season, Coach Cook helped the Women's squad to a 4-6 overall record and a sixth place finish at the PAC Championships. The Men's team placed seventh.
The Women boasted large-margin victories over Bethany, Washington and Jefferson, and Hiram, as well as a one-point edge over Pitt-Bradford under Cook's direction.
Cook also brought in diving coach Vic Galati, who helped sophomore
Ali Cowan to her second straight NCAA qualification and second-place finishes in both the 1M and 3M dives at the PAC meet. Cowan over-qualified for the NCAAs in several meets this season, far surpassing the 395-point minimum.
"We think this is a great opportunity for Chatham to get a top-notch candidate in to help build a competitive program for both the women and men," stated Trevino. "We are excited to provide the resources necessary to forge a national-caliber program and student-athletes under the right leadership."
A nation-wide search is now underway for a Swimming and Diving coach, and the Chatham University Athletic Department looks forward to the program's upward trajectory.
