MARIETTA, Ga. — Today, Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast announced Kylar Ferguson will be returning to head the women's lacrosse program after a two-year stint at NCAA DI Longwood.

Ferguson returns to Life University after serving as Longwoods' Head Coach since the summer of 2022. In her two seasons at Longwood, Ferguson coached one Big South Freshman of the Year in 2023 and saw five other members get placed on the Big South All-Conference team.

Prior to being named the Lancers coach, Ferguson started the Life U women's lacrosse program in 2017. Leading the Running Eagles through their first full season of competition in the Spring of 2019, she held an overall record of 40-22 over her four seasons at the helm. Ferguson quickly developed the program into one of the top institutions in the NAIA, guiding the team to a multitude NAIA Top 10 rankings including a national semifinal appearance.

Under her direction, the Running Eagles garnered 16 All Mid-South Conference Honorees (seven of which were First Team), seven NAIA All-Americans, 15 Conference Players of the Week, nine National Players of the Week, and an MSC Offensive Player of the Year. 

The program also excelled in the classroom during her tenure with 18 athletes getting named to the Academic All-Conference team An additional six also earned NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athlete honors. The program as a whole was also nationally recognized, receiving NAIA Scholar Team honors in 2021 and 2022.

Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast spoke on the excitement of Ferguson's return.

"I'm so proud to have Kylar back on our team," Pendergast said. "She is an impressive professional in so many ways and cares deeply about the personal, academic, and athletic success of her student-athletes. She has a high standard that matches our high expectations for this team. I have so much confidence in Kylar's skills as a coach and value her as a person. To have her back, along with so much returning talent on the team, is a special opportunity that we are grateful for."

Ferguson showed her appreciation and excitement for the opportunity, stating, "Thank you very much to President Dr. Scott and Athletic Director Jayme Pendergast for giving me this opportunity to return to Life University. I feel very fortunate to be coming home to a special place and continuing to work for championships in one of the best environments for college athletics. The potential for this team and the student-athlete experience is something I am very excited to be a part of. One team, one dream, one Life. Go Running Eagles."
