Parkside Athletics Announces Staff Realignment

Director of Athletics Adam Schemm '08 announced an athletics staff realignment this week.

Schemm announced that Craig Becker '10 has been promoted to Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations, C.J. Selner has been promoted to Associate AD for External Operations while Head Volleyball Coach Leigh Barea has taken on additional responsibilities as the department's Community Engagement & Leadership Lead.
 
"We are excited to announce the new roles and responsibilities for Craig, CJ, and Leigh," said Schemm. "Over the past 10 months, I have had the opportunity evaluated the strengths of our staff, where we need to go with the organization to be more operationally efficient and be in a position to provide our student-athletes with an exceptional experience. We felt these moves were key in helping us move forward.
 
Becker '10 begins his 12th season on staff at Parkside this fall. He will continue to oversee facilities and operations for Athletics while taking on the new responsibilities with oversight of the event services and intramurals-recreation-wellness units and assisting with business services duties. In addition, he will now also serve as a sport supervisor for select sports.

Selner, who will begin his third season on staff later this fall, will provide continued leadership in the areas of strategic communications, broadcasting and branding, while adding responsibilities related to marketing, fan engagement, and assisting with select revenue generating opportunities within Athletics. In addition, he will now also serve as a sport supervisor for select sports.
 
Barea will begin an additional role as Special Advisor – Community Engagement & Leadership while maintaining her role as Head Volleyball Coach. In this role, she will lead the department's community engagement and leadership efforts In this role, she will help cultivate community service opportunities for the department, lead staff and coaches' leadership training initiatives, and assist with special events. Barea enters her seventh year leading the Ranger Volleyball program.
 
This staff realignment by Schemm follows the recent hiring of Stasha Warchock '24 as the new Coordinator of Partnerships & Engagement and the promotion of Hayley Treadway to Deputy AD last fall.
