Sam Blaskowski of
Oshkosh (West) placed fifth in the 60-meter dash at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Indoor Championships Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Blaskowski set a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and UWL record with a time of 6.67 in Saturday's semifinals and finals. He placed fifth out of the seven sprinters in the final.
He advanced to Saturday's semifinals after a preliminary round time of 6.69 on Friday, February 17.
Blaskowski broke his own NCAA III record of 6.68 set at the UWL
Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on February 4. He tied the record set by UW-Eau Claire's Thurgood Dennis in 2014.
Blaskowski originally broke
Alex Koenen's school record of 6.73 set in 2016 with a time of 6.70 at the UWL Pat Healy Classic on January 21.
He set an NCAA Division III record in the 200-meter dash at the Aurora University (Ill.) Grand Prix on January 27 with a time of 21.13, breaking Dennis' record of 21.27 in 2014. Blaskowski's time of 21.13 currently leads NCAA Division III and broke
Andrew Rock's school record of 21.34 set in 2003.
