Notre Dame of Maryland University and the NDMU Athletic Department are pleased to announce Nathan Rauscher has been hired as the department's women's soccer head coach. Rauscher is the 12^th head coach in program history, bringing a wealth of experiences into the role. 
 
Rauscher joins the Gators Athletic Department after serving as an assistant women's soccer coach at Stevenson University for the past six years.  During his time with the Mustangs, he planned training sessions that focused on developing attacking movement and midfield combinations. Under Rauscher's leadership, nine players earn MAC Commonwealth All-Conference Honors. In addition, Rauscher led recruiting efforts, growing the program by operating ID Clinics and attending local, regional and national tournaments. 
 
Rauscher said he is excited for the many possibilities he sees at NDMU. 
 
"NDMU and Baltimore offer incredible opportunities to student-athletes," Rauscher explained. "I'm excited to work within the campus community to grow the soccer program and help give student athletes an amazing college experience." 
 
Prior to arriving to Stevenson, Rauscher served as the head women's soccer coach at Mount Saint Vincent from 2015-2017. He immediately changed the fortunes of the program, leading the team to its best record, highest conference standings finish, and first playoff victory in program history. For his efforts, Nathan Rauscher was named Skyline Conference Coach of the year in 2016. 
 
Taking over an athletic program comes with a laundry list of challenges, but Rauscher knows how important recruiting will be to the growth of the program. 
 
"I'm excited to work with this team, and I'll be actively looking to complement our roster with new additions," said Rauscher. "I can't wait to show prospective student-athletes everything NDMU, its beautiful historic campus, and Baltimore has to offer."
 
Rauscher's new team should expect a coach that truly loves the game of soccer. 
 
"I hope my energy and joy for soccer and coaching feeds into their love of the sport," said Rauscher. "It's special to compete in college soccer, and there are huge opportunities for players to create a legacy for themselves and NDMU athletics. I love being on the field with players day-to-day, sharing their excitement for soccer, and enjoying every minute we have during training and games.  When players enjoy training sessions, they bring that energy into games, and back to the campus community." 
 
Dr. Ashley Hodges Director of Athletics said the department was delighted to bring an experienced veteran coach to lead the program.
 
"Nathan brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences that our program needs to take the next steps forward," explained Dr. Hodges. "He understands the strong foundation that our program is built upon, and with his successful coaching history I believe he can elevate the program to an elite level."
 
A 2003 graduate of Hamilton College, Rauscher earned his Bachelor of Arts. He earned his Master's in Education in Athletic Leadership and Administration from Goucher College in 2014. In addition to coaching, Rauscher works as a science teacher in the Baltimore County Public School System.
