Loggers launch Puget Sound Performance Success Program

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound Athletics Department recently launched the Puget Sound Performance Success Program (PS²) with focus on student-athlete wellness.

Specialists in sports mental performance and nutrition have been working with teams, coaches, and individual student-athletes to develop skills and confidence for personal wellness and athletic success.

"We know that mental wellness and nutrition are vital to athletic and academic performance," said Craig Bennett, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Student-Athlete Wellness. "We are excited to build partnerships with various national resources, including the IMG Academy and Mind Fit Performance, as well as our university colleagues to offer these services."

PS² centers on building a championship culture by developing a holistic approach of support for Puget Sound student-athletes. The program concentrates on areas of physical readiness, wellness, as well as personal and professional development to best support Puget Sound's already high-achieving student-athletes. Students will be able to better realize their full potential and be better adept at facing challenges beyond college.

"The mental performance session was engaging and beneficial for student-athletes", said Marissa Perez, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President. "I am excited to see how student-athletes will further benefit from the Performance Success Program."

PS² was established with the generous contribution of an $8 million endowment by the Tom and Meg Names Family Foundation. Programming was able to begin in 2023 with additional grant funds from the Names Family Foundation.
