Becks Young Named Head Coach of Women's Soccer

PAINESVILLE, Ohio –- Lake Erie College Athletics announced today that Becks Young has been officially named the next head coach of the Storm women's soccer program.

"I am absolutely honored to have been selected as the next Head Coach for Lake Erie Women's Soccer," said Young. "I'm grateful for the confidence and trust placed in me by Athletic Director Molly Hoffman and the search committee to lead this program. Special thanks to my former student-athletes, my coaching mentors and my husband, Dan."

"I am thrilled to have Becks join our department as the next leader of our women's soccer program, said Molly Hoffman, Director of Athletics. "Her knowledge of the game and vision for the program align with the mission and vision of Storm athletics. I look forward to seeing the team reach new heights under her leadership."

Becks joins Lake Erie College after successful spells at Gannon University and Mercyhurst University where she served as an Assistant First Team coach as well as the Head Coach for their Developmental Teams. She also established the first ever Women's Senior Pro-Am team in Erie, PA the Erie Commodores where she currently serves as Head Coach in the summer. In their inaugural season, the Erie Commodores boasted a record of 5-2-3 going unbeaten through 7 games. Young coached UWS Eastern Conference Second Team Honoree Brooklyn Respecki.

Young, a native of Northern Ireland, started her college playing career at the University of West Alabama in 2013 before transferring to Mercyhurst University where she earned her Bachelors in Early Childhood and Special Education (2018) and a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership (2020). Young also represented her National Team on several occasions, earning multiple youth caps between 2010-2013 and a senior national team call up to the Cyprus Cup in March 2013. She currently holds her USSF Grassroots & D license and is pursuing her USSF C license in 2023. She also holds a Performance Analysis Level 1 license and her United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Cert.
