Jacquelyn Fetrow - Albright College president

READING, Pa. - The faculty of Albright College held a vote of no-confidence in school president Jacquelyn Fetrow and provost Karen Campbell this week.

The vote comes in the wake of campus protests and growing calls for transparency from students in recent weeks.

A source told 69 News the vote had to do with a lack of transparency regarding the school's future and a lack of raises for faculty.

Fetrow has been president since 2017. In 2022, the board of trustees voted unanimously to extend her contract through 2027.

In a statement released by board chair Ron Scheese on Thursday, the board acknowledged it takes seriously the no-confidence vote, although it says the action muddies the college's current focus of cutting expenses in all departments and divisions at the school.

The board went on to state that while recent academic progress at the college, like the establishment of two new schools and academic programs, has been positive, it has become evident that more work needs to be done to ensure Albright's continued viability.

The board said it's committed to addressing the concerns of faculty and students and intends to find a pathway forward.

At the time this article was published, a representative from Albright said the school is planning to issue a statement on the vote.
