MARIETTA, Ga. ---- Life University women's lacrosse head coach Emily Cabrera has announced that she will resign and not return for the 2024-25 season.

"Cab has been a presence in our women's lacrosse program since 2019 and I have so much appreciation for all of her contributions.  We believe we have one of the strongest programs in the country and her energy, efforts, and leadership in that success is recognized," Director of Athletics Jayme Pendergast stated. "Coach Cabrera has a bright future and we are grateful for her dedication to our lacrosse program and department."

Cabrera was named the team's second head coach of the lacrosse program in July of 2022 after serving as the program's graduate assistant for two years, beginning in 2019.

During her time with the program, the team made three consecutive NAIA Tournaments and has been among the nation's top teams in each of the last four seasons.

Under her direct leadership as Head Coach, the program found success with an overall record of 21-11. Helping the team transition into the SUN Conference, the Running Eagles went to two consecutive SUN semifinal matches, losing to the eventual conference champion both times.

Additionally, the Running Eagles were mentioned in numerous NAIA Coaches' Top 10 Polls over the last two years and boasted 11 All-Conference honors. With Cabrera at the helm, women's lacrosse garnered three SUN Conference Players of the Year, two NAIA All-Americans, and an NAIA All-Tournament team member in 2023.

The athletes continued that success with weekly honors as the program totaled nine SUN Players of the Week and two NAIA Player of the Week awards.

Pendergast will open the national search immediately for the program's successor stating, "We will be looking for someone that can continue to lead our program toward national prominence within the NAIA, but that also embodies the values that are important to us at Life University, and those that are critical in the development of our student-athletes."

Interested candidates should submit an official resume and cover letter to Pendergast about the position at jayme.pendergast@life.edu
