McCabe Named Associate Vice President for Athletics Strategy & External Relations

LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell College President Dr. Elizabeth MacLeod Walls has announced that Chris McCabe has been named the Associate Vice President for Athletics Strategy and External Relations, effective April 16.

"As Interim Athletics Director, Chris has led the Department with his characteristic calm leadership style, always evincing deep wisdom and integrity, and consistently privileging his commitment to a positive student-athlete experience at Jewell," said MacLeod Walls. "He has gained the support of alumni, students, parents, and colleagues, proving that he is the right strategic leader to take Cardinal Athletics to the next level."

McCabe, who has been serving as the Interim AD since August 2023, will begin his sixth year on The Hill in 2024-2025 and will be responsible for Athletics strategy, philanthropy, and aligning the Department with the College's overall strategic plan. To support this effort, Jewell will also identify a Deputy Athletics Director to support day-to-day operations and personnel. McCabe will continue to serve as the head coach of the men's basketball program which won their first Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship last month with support from Associate Head Coach Christian Hildebrandt, '15, and Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operations Mason Alexander, '23.
