ALEXIS WATSON NAMED ASSOCIATE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR FOR COMPLIANCE/SWA/DEI LIAISON

Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College Le Moyne Asst. Vice President for Athletics & Recreation Bob Beretta announced on Tuesday the hiring of Alexis Watson as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, Senior Woman Administrator and DEI Liaison

"We are extremely excited to add someone the caliber of Alexis Watson to our senior leadership team," said Beretta. "Alexis is a highly respected administrator with strong ties to the Northeast Conference. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and will offer a fresh perspective to our leadership team in a variety of areas.

"Alexis' previous Division I experience at the Northeast Conference and Mount St. Mary's make her an excellent fit for our department as we continue our reclassification process as a member of the NEC. We couldn't be more thrilled to have Alexis join our team. In addition to her role as our Associate AD for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator, Alexis is a leading voice in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space, and will serve as a trusted advisor for our student-athletes, coaches and staff members."

"I am so thankful to the Le Moyne students and staff for welcoming me into such a warm community," said Watson. "I look forward to serving Le Moyne as they transition to DI and continue on their path of competitive excellence and holistic development of student-athletes."

Watson comes to Le Moyne following one and one-half years at McDaniel College, where she was Associate Director of Athletics. Watson was responsible for compliance, student engagement, DEI, and various other roles for all 24 varsity sports.

Before joining the Green Terror, Watson worked at Mount St. Mary's where she was the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Inclusive Excellence. At Mount St. Mary's, Watson provided leadership in education, monitoring, enforcement, and maintenance to keep the Mount compliant with the NCAA by-laws. She served as a liaison between coaches, financial aid and university admissions, coordinating and monitoring the recruitment, admission and initial eligibility of prospects for all 24 sponsored sports at Mount St. Mary's. In addition to her role in compliance, she worked to advance the university's mission for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ensuring inclusive environments for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff, a role she started on the year before as the Director of Academics and Student-Athlete Development.

Prior to her initial hiring at the Mount, she served as the Northeast Conference Events & Operations Assistant during the 2019-20 academic year in her second stint with the Conference, having served in a similar capacity during the 2017-18 academic year.

Following her hiring at Mount St. Mary's, Watson was named the NEC's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisor in July, 2020. In her role, Watson works on internal and external initiatives to promote the NEC's diversity, equity and inclusion goals detailed in the NEC Strategic Plan, including the NEC Champions For Change platform. She also serves as a liaison with the NEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to ensure student-athlete representation on DEI initiatives.

Watson graduated from Mount St. Mary's in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in French.

Following her first year at the NEC, Watson returned to the Mount as a Program Coordinator for Alumni Engagement during the 2018-19 academic year. During that time, she helped identify, cultivate and solicit young alumni donors, developed young alumni events, oversaw the Maguire Foundation Scholarship Program, and provided academic advising and mentoring to students.

As an undergraduate at the Mount, Watson served as a Student-Athlete Development intern during her junior and senior years. Her responsibilities included the coordination of student-athlete service events and programs, providing assistance in facilitating study hall programs and SAAC meetings, and the management of SAAC social media accounts. Watson also spent three years working in the Office of Alumni Engagement, where she aided in the planning of major events such as Homecoming Weekend and Hall of Fame enshrinement, and worked to secure potential donors.

Watson, who attended the Mount on a Presidential Scholarship, was a six-time member of the Dean's List.
