HARRIS PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist University Director of Athletics David Sharp has announced the promotion of Ashleigh Harris to assistant athletic director for athletic training.

Harris has been on staff at Ouachita since the fall of 2017, when she began her tenure in Arkadelphia as an assistant athletic trainer. She was promoted to head athletic trainer in 2020, and since her start with the Tigers, has worked with all 18 of Ouachita's athletic teams in various capacities.

"Ashleigh has proven to be one of the most significant resources we have at Ouachita," said Sharp. "She is most-deserving of this promotion. She's one of the best athletic trainers around in the way she cares for our student-athletes from a holistic approach, but more than that, she's a great leader and understands collegiate athletics on a broad scale."

"I am thankful for this opportunity to take on a new role at Ouachita," said Harris. "I'm especially thankful to Coach Sharp and Dr. Wesley Kluck for their outstanding leadership and guidance. From the moment I arrived on campus in 2017 up to now, Ouachita has been so great to me, and I'm thrilled to continue to serve our student-athletes and help our teams compete at the highest level possible."

Harris leads a staff of three full-time assistant athletic trainers and many student assistants that provide comprehensive athletic training services to more than 500 Tiger student-athletes, catering to the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. She is also on the administrative leadership team for the athletic department.

Originally from St. Peters, Missouri, Harris played soccer at Emporia State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 2015. She earned a master's degree from Missouri Western State University in 2017. She is a board-certified athletic trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Training Association. She holds certifications in first aid, CPR, and dry needling (DN-1), and is a certified performance exercise specialist (PES).
