Rachel Acosta named UMHB Associate Athletic Director and Compliance Officer

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor athletic department announced Rachel Acosta as the program's new Associate Athletic Director and Compliance Officer, effective February 6th.
 
Acosta comes to UMHB after a two-year stint as the head softball coach at Belton High School. Prior to her time at BISD, Acosta was also a teacher and assistant volleyball and softball coach at Elgin High School for one year.
 
Acosta has collegiate coaching and compliance experience from American Southwest Conference affiliate Concordia University Texas. She helped her teams to a program-high 25-win season in 2018 as all her squads boasted 3.2 or higher grade-point averages each of her six seasons. Acosta also served as Concordia Texas's compliance director from 2014-2019. In addition, she was an adjunct professor in Kinesiology (Personal Wellness, Health, Aerobics, Strength and Conditioning), Psychology (Sports Psychology) and Education (Methods of Teaching PE, ORG Admin of PE and Sport).
 
Acosta also has collegiate coaching experience at Wellesley College and Concordia University Irvine. She graduated from Concordia University Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology and a graduate degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. Acosta was a four-year letter winner for Concordia University Irvine, earning 147 victories as a right-handed pitcher during her career. She helped her to team to a pair of NAIA World Series appearances, throwing a career ERA of 1.96.
 
"I am beyond thankful and excited to be back in the world of NCAA collegiate athletics," Acosta said. "After ten years of coaching softball at both the collegiate and high school level and doing compliance in NCAA Division III, I am ready to take my knowledge of athletics to the administrative level. I want to thank the university for giving me the opportunity to be part of this team. I am excited to learn and grow with everyone here on campus. Go Cru!"
 
Acosta and her husband, Miguel, live in Liberty Hill with their three children Abigail, Inez and Gabriel.
