4/11/2024 11:03:00 AM

FRANKLIN – Franklin College Director of Athletics Lance Marshall has announced the appointment of Staci LaGrange as the new head coach of the women's tennis program, effective immediately.

"We are excited about the passion and energy that Coach LaGrange will bring to the women's tennis program," Director of Athletic Lance Marshall said. "Her passion for teaching the game is matched only by her desire to see her players succeed on the court and in the classroom. We feel like she is going to be a major asset to our tennis programs."

LaGrange began her tennis journey as a player for long-time head coach Rusty Hughes at Franklin Community High School before competing collegiately at UIndy from 1995-97, where she was part of a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) champion in 1996. After her playing career ended, she began her venture into teaching and coaching tennis at Woodstock Country Club in 1998. Today, she conducts private tennis lessons and handled duties as middle school boys' tennis coach at Franklin Middle School in 2021-22.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to grow on the foundation and success that Rusty has built with the women's tennis program over the years." LaGrange said. "I have been a long-time supporter of the Franklin women's tennis program and can't wait to share my passion and knowledge with a well-rounded group of young women."

LaGrange takes over for her former instructor, after long-time head coach Rusty Hughes announced his retirement after 36 years leading the women's tennis program.
