Juli Fulks announces she is leaving Transylvania, named Head Coach at Marshall University

LEXINGTON - Transylvania Women's Basketball Head Coach Juli Fulks has announced she is leaving Transylvania. The 2024 WBCA DIII Coach of the Year and 2023 National Champion will depart Transylvania for Huntington, West Virginia to be the new Head Coach at Marshall University in the Sun Belt Conference.

"There is no doubt the impact that Coach Fulks has had during her time here." Vice President of Athletics Holly Sheilley said. "National Champions, 64 game winning streak, National Coach of the year, and the accolades go on. However, even without any of those, Juli is a phenomenal human being that you realize you are blessed to know. No words will explain how much we will miss her, but we are excited for her and know that this next chapter in her life will be exceptional.  She will always have a home at Transylvania."

In her 10 seasons as Head Coach at Transy, Fulks won 242 games, 6 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season championships, 6 consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championships, and earned 7 trips to the NCAA DIII tournament.

In 2022, Transylvania finished the regular season unbeaten in reached the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

In 2023, Transylvania made history and won the University's first National Championship in route to an undefeated season at 33-0. Madison Kellione was named First Team All-American by the WBCA and was the NCAA Championship MVP. Fulks was named d3hoops.com Co-DIII Coach of the Year.

In 2024, Transylvania kept their winning streak going and would finish the regular season unbeaten for the third consecutive season. The Pioneers made history as they extended their win streak to 64 games. The win streak is 3rd longest in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball history, 7th in all NCAA Divisions for Women's Basketball, and 8th all time for all NCAA Divisions for Men's and Women's Basketball. The Pioneers earned their second final four trip before losing to New York University. Dasia Thornton was named WBCA and d3hoops.com First Team All-American.

During the 64 game win streak, Fulks's squads were the only team to finish the 2023 season unbeaten in any sport in the NCAA or NAIA, regardless of gender.

Both Madison Kellione and Sierra Kemelgor were named the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner while playing under Fulks.

With the 62-48 win against Wisconsin-Whitewater to send Transy to their second straight NCAA Final-Four appearance, Fulks earned her 400th career coaching win.

A 5 time HCAC Coach of the Year, Fulks has turned Transylvania Women's Basketball from conference contender to national champion contender, and has coached 6 HCAC Players of the Year.
