Fee Announces Resignation to Pursue Next Step of Coaching Career

ERIE, Pa. - Following one of the most successful seasons in school history and the best single-season improvement in NCAA history, Gannon men's basketball head coach Jordan Fee has announced his resignation to pursue the next step in his coaching career.

Fee was named Gannon men's basketball head coach on April 12, 2023, and immediately led the Golden Knights to 32-3 overall record and a spot in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight this past season. In the process, the program captured the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division regular-season, PSAC Tournament, and NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championships.

"It was the honor of a lifetime leading Gannon Basketball," said Fee. "We set out to rectify a program and a culture, and I'm proud to say that what was once a nationally recognized program, is back where it belongs. With countless record-setting performances and marks, including a school-record for wins and the school's highest NABC national ranking, a PSAC regular-season championship, a PSAC Tournament championship, and an Atlantic Region championship, this group left their mark on the history books.

"Very few disciplines have such highs and lows. Leaving Gannon and our home is bittersweet. Gannon University and Erie will always be special to me. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart."

Not only were the 32 wins a school record for victories, but the Golden Knights also showed an improvement of 24.5 games. They not only enjoyed the greatest improvement ever in Division II men's basketball history, but it was the largest improvement in NCAA history for both men's and women's basketball.

"I would like to thank Coach Fee for laying a foundation of excellence for which Gannon basketball will continue to build from in the years to come," said Gannon Director of Athletics Lisa Goddard McGuirk. "He has truly made a tremendous impact on Gannon basketball and the city of Erie, and for that, we are forever grateful. Jordan is an elite individual and coach, and we wish him all the best as he continues to elevate an already successful career."

Gannon captured its first NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship since 2009 with a 67-65 victory against the University of Charleston in front of a standing-room-only and boisterous crowd. The Golden Knights finished second in the country with 100.4 points per game, surpassing the 100-point plateau 16 times.

"I like doing hard things with good people," said Fee. "To my right-hand man, Easton Bazzoli, THANK YOU for your trust in me and pouring your heart and soul into this program. Katrina, Kaiya, and your family will forever be family to me. To Myo Baxter-Bell, you positively impacted our culture each day, just by being you. You have a special gift. THANK YOU, and I love you both.

"To Lisa Goddard McGuirk, THANK YOU for taking a chance on me. I will forever be indebted to you. Your positive attitude and work ethic are infectious. It was an honor to work for and with you.

"To Dr. Iwanenko, your vision and leadership of this University is inspiring. I consider you to be the greatest leader I've ever been around in higher education. THANK YOU.

"To Dan Teliski, Dr. Sarah Ewing, Dr. Keith Taylor, administration, athletic department colleagues and coaches, and all Gannon University employees, THANK YOU all for your friendship and support of me, my family, and our program.

"To the alumni, fans, season ticket holders, and the entire Erie community, THANK YOU for joining in on the ride of a lifetime. Your passion and support are something I'll never forget. While I know this was a memorable year, I believe the best is still yet to come for you all.

"To the players, you were responsible for the greatest year-to-year turnaround in NCAA history. You embraced a unique system, grew together, and became Champions. I will forever be grateful for your faith in a first-time head coach and a staff with a lofty vision. THANK YOU! I love you all and will always be here for you."
